We came home knowing nothing. Nothing about you, nothing about your temperament, nothing about us as parents but praise the Lord He has blessed us with one chill baby! I'm not saying that having a fussy or high demand baby is not good as I'm sure it helps us become better people if we take the opportunity to give of ourselves, but for first time parents boy and I glad we have you.
You cry when you're hungry, but only if I let you go too long without reading your signs. You cry if you're diaper needs changing, but only if it's in the middle of the night and you're trying to tell me to change you before feeding. And that's about it.
I've begun to attempt shifting your sleep from daytime to night time by limiting your nap time in the day and last night it seemed to help you sleep for longer stretches. It was wonderful for both of us as you were a lot less upset at feeding time.
Speaking of feeding time it takes a lot of conversation, tickling, back rubbing and undressing to keep you awake while you eat. We barely make it to 30 minutes but I'm not worried as you have been gaining weight like a champ.
When you're awake it is so hard for me to not be within eye shot of you as your bright eyes dart about and hilarious faces make me laugh. We spend a lot of time lying down in bed talking, reading books, singing, kissing your face, your hands and Daddy already gives you raspberries on your tummy which I'm not sure you know what to do with just yet but you don't put up a fuss, and he loves that.
Bath time takes the two of us new parents as neither one of us is confident to hold your slippery little body and wash it at the same time. You seem to enjoy it, and the attention too I'm sure. We have lots of massage time (since you're pretty peely from being a tad over due) and the midwife says your skin looks excellent so I'm relieved.
We've already come across your first diaper rash but with the use of the proper ointment you've healed amazingly in the past few days. It seems you were built for speed (like your Dad). Not only to catch on well but you seem to do everything quickly (except maybe feed).
Just don't grow up too quickly! We are enjoying you as a baby and even in 11 days we notice how much you have grown.
We've gone for a few walks, some with you in the baby wrap, some in our arms and a few in the stroller which puts you to sleep with all the bumping I think.
We're so looking forward to life with you, we thank God for you and pray for you every day. You are so loved.

Aww, what a blessed little family! glad for all the calmness of this stage - allowing you to heal and also to get to know yourselves and JJ!! can't wait to hold him again! Mom
